Chip industry veteran to lead Siano’s expansion into US
Netanya, Israel and Sunnyvale, California, March 13 2007: Siano Mobile Silicon, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for Mobile Digital TV (MDTV), announced today its expansion into the US market with the opening of an office in the Silicon Valley and the appointment of VP Loren Lasley as North America Business Manager.
The opening of Siano’s North American office, in Sunnyvale California, follows a year of aggressive design wins through Siano's existing offices in Taiwan, China and Korea, as well as engagements with customers and partners in the US, that have been so far managed out of company headquarters in Israel. Responsible for Siano’s overall business operations in North America, industry veteran Loren Lasley has been hired to enhance Siano’s penetration into the US consumer and cellular markets.
Former VP Worldwide Sales at SyChip Inc., and Regional Sales Manager at Conexant Systems Inc, Loren Lasley (MBA, BSC), brings over 14 years of global sales and marketing management and extensive project leadership within the wireless chip manufacturing industry.
“The establishment of an office in the US marks a new phase of business growth for Siano and we are delighted to announce that Loren Lasley will be heading our North American operations” commented Alon Ironi, CEO of Siano. “Loren’s vast experience with tier-1 PC and PDA manufacturers and successful roll-out of multiple sales strategies in the US will be of great benefit in advancing Siano’s mobile TV chipset in the market.”
Loren Lasley said: “I am excited to join Siano at this time, and look forward to leading the business in North America by securing existing design wins, winning new ones and building a solid sales picture for Siano. Siano was not only the first to introduce the multi-standard receiver chip, but with an impressive global client base it has proven itself as a formidable player in enabling quality mobile TV reception to multiple mobile devices around the world.”
"The US office will have its own customer support personnel to provide quick hands-on technical aid to our existing and potential customers and partners in the US and Canada," added Lasley.
Siano’s SMS1000 product family is the industry’s first low-cost, ultra-low-power, quad-band, multi-standard mobile TV receiver. A combination of RF tuner and demodulator, the SMS1000 currently supports DVB-H, DVB-T, DAB, DAB-IP and T-DMB mobile digital TV standards, offering the highest performance and lowest power consumption levels within the industry.”
